Meet the photographer
Welcome, my name is Anna!
I have lived in a quiet, rural town in central Massachusetts my entire life, but I have often split my summers between Greensboro, Vermont and Ludington, Michigan.
From a young age, I've always been drawn to nature. When I wasn't locked into Animal Planet or the Discovery Channel, I was building stick forts in my backyard, getting muddy in a stream, or making fairy houses in every spare hollow tree trunk.
I picked up a camera when I was 16 years old and started taking photos of chipmunks and chickadees at the bird feeder. At the time, it was for fun. But, as the years have passed, my passion for nature photography has evolved into one fueled by the desire to explore, appreciate, and encapsulate the beauty of the natural world.
The influence of
Equine photography
I have been riding and loving horses since I was 5 years old. When I began experimenting with photography, horses were my target focus other than nature and wildlife. I honed a lot of my photographic skills by doing photoshoots of my friends and their horses in my free time.
Horses have been an all-encompassing factor throughout my life. I have a special understanding for the intricate bond between horse and rider. My photography aims to honor the grueling yet rewarding aspects of the sport, the rustic yet elegant beauty of the horse.
College Experience
I graduated from Endicott College in May 2024 with a BA in English Creative Writing and a minor in Photography. I was an intern for Todd and Brad Reed Photography, Central New England Equine Rescue, and The Story Plant Publishing Co.
I competed on the Endicott Equestrian Team for 4 years. During my senior year, I moved through Regionals, Zones, and qualified for Nationals. I rode against the top 15 riders in the country for Novice Flat at Tryon International in North Carolina, and brought home the National Championship!
About My internships
Todd and Brad Reed Photography - 2021
I was an intern for Todd and Brad Reed Photography, a father-son duo dedicated to capturing the stunning beauty of western Michigan. They gave me invaluable insights into the world of landscape and nature photography. Todd believes that extraordinary photography requires chasing the light and capturing the defining moment. They taught me vision concepts such as immediacy, repetitive patterns, abstracts, atmosphere, and magic light, which I practiced in my free time when I wasn't working in the gallery. Todd and Brad were incredible mentors, and I owe the current state of my nature photography to them.
I urge you to learn more about Todd and Brad, their wonderful business, and the achievements they've earned over the years.
Central New England Equine Rescue - 2022
CNEER is a non-profit organization focused on rehabilitating abused, abandoned, neglected and slaughter-bound horses. The Rescue provides clean water, nutritious food, medical care and shelter for the horses in its care, and works hard to find loving, forever homes for them. They also help to educate all who are interested in the wellbeing of horses through volunteer programs, community presence, and published literature.
My role consisted of managing the website, taking photos of horses, people, and events, writing informative articles, and creating the 2022 Summer edition newsletter. I curated my own page on the Rescue’s website, which includes my photography portfolio and the articles I wrote. I also took photographs and wrote articles about horses that have gotten adopted. My photos and articles were posted on the Rescue’s Facebook, on my website page, and published in the Summer Newsletter. Furthermore, I took photos of volunteer work and events such as CNEER’s appearance at the Hardwick Farmer’s Co-Op Horse Week, the CNEER Benefit Horse Show, and a Pete Whitmore Clinic.
Studio Photography Experience
While I was completing my Photography Minor at Endicott College, I had the opportunity to take a Studio Photo course. It was completely out of my comfort zone; I was so used to working with only natural light. It turned out to be an extremely rewarding and insightful experience. Here is some of my work!
Documentary Photography Experience
Another class I had the opportunity to take at Endicott was a Documentary Photography course. My final project was an ode to collegiate equestrian teams, where athletes are hardly recognized for their participation, work ethic, and achievements compared to other sports. By portraying the intricate perspective of a college equestrian, I aimed to educate viewers on the complex nature of the sport and the dedication of the riders. Here are some of my photos from my project.
Other Facts and details about me!
I studied abroad in Athens, Greece!
During my second semester of junior year at Endicott, I studied abroad at the American College of Greece. I have been lucky enough throughout my life to travel across the U.S. and overseas, but this experience will always have a special place in my heart.
I met incredible people and got to visit amazing places: Italy, France, Hungary, Croatia, Holland, England, Monaco, and Spain. My friends and I explored Greece thoroughly, from its turquoise coasts and windswept islands, to its rugged mountains and rolling valleys, lined with olive trees and peppered with ancient ruins.
I am obsessed with music!
If you know me, you know how seriously I take my music. Curating Spotify playlists is one of my favorite hobbies. I listen to a wide variety of genres, including alternative, hip-hop, rap, country, pop, folk, and a little bit of everything in between.
My dad had a huge impact on my music taste growing up. He played in bands for most of his adult life, jamming out on the keyboard and organ with artists like Chuck Berry and Bob Seger. One of his favorite stations to listen to in the car is Yacht Rock Radio, so I came to appreciate the work of Steely Dan, The Eagles, Kenny Loggins, The Doobie Brothers, to name a few.
And while my dad's side of the family seems to share the musical gene, I can't sing or play an instrument to save my life. So I guess I'll leave that kind of creativity to them, and I'll stick solely to appreciating it!
